How do I sign up for direct deposit ?Download the Direct Deposit Authorization form from Payroll's home page, print it on your printer, fill out the required information, and submit the completed form to the Payroll Office. It will become effective on the second payday after Payroll receives the form. If you do not have access to a printer, the forms are also available in the Payroll office. All employees are eligible for direct deposit. Back to TopHow can I find out how many vacation and sick days I have accrued?Sick and Vacation days available are printed on your payroll check stub. The accrual is accurate as of the last time sheet you've turned in. You can also ask your supervisor. Each payday, your department head receives a "Time Control Listing". This report lists the available hours for both vacation and sick time for each employee in the department. It does not include any vacation or sick time taken during the last pay period. Therefore, to calculate your remaining time exactly, subtract vacation or sick pay taken during your last pay period from the amount reported on the Time Control Listing. When in doubt call Payroll. Back to TopWhy is my salary advance deducted from my paycheck ?When approved, salary may be advanced to an employee before the paycheck is prepared. This amount is actually a short term, interest free loan that must be repaid by the employee. Salary advances are deducted in full from the next available paycheck Back to TopWhat are FICA Oasdi and HI ?Social Security payroll taxes are collected under authority of the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA). The payroll taxes are usually referred to as "FICA taxes." The Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) was enacted to provide health, pension, and disability benefits to qualified recipients. OASDI is an acronym for Old Age and Survivors Disability Insurance. HI is an acronym for Health Insurance. FICA is deducted from your paycheck, matched dollar for dollar by your employer and the total funds are remitted to the Social Security Administration each payday. The percentages and maximum contributions vary from year to year. The following are the most recent rates:

In other words, when you receive your paycheck for the month of June, you are being paid for the period June 1st through June 30th including any adjustments from the previous month (overtime, vacation etc). Biweekly employees are held back six days. Paychecks received on Friday represent payment for the ten-day period ending the previous Thursday. Semi-monthly employees are paid current just as Monthly employees are. Back to TopWhen will my direct deposit become effective ?The second payday after we receive your authorization. Tulane is required to submit a test of each new direct deposit authorization, therefore, after you authorize direct deposit, the first payday will be a check while we test the banking information. If the information is correct and the test is successful, your funds will be automatically deposited into your bank account on the following payday.
