Almost all full-time graduate students accepted into the program receive Full-Tuition Scholarships and are awarded Teaching Assistantships (TAs) or Fellowships.TAs and Fellowships provide sufficient income to cover the costs of housing and basic living expenses. Awards may be continued for up to five years, provided students remain in good standing (four years in the case of a student entering with an M.A. or comparable graduate preparation). A Tulane Fellowship is available to those who wish to spend 1 year as an exchange student in Berlin (most students who apply for this are successful). The structure of, and conditions on, the awards made to philosophy graduate students at Tulane are usually as follows:
No more than five years of funding can be guaranteed. However, in recent years, a number of students have secured partial support beyond this period by working as adjunct instructors in the department. |
