Amistad Research Center:
Located on the campus of Tulane University, the Amistad
Research Center offers one of the most extensive manuscript and art
collections relating to African-American and ethnic history in the United
States. The center's manuscript holdings number in excess of ten
million items from all periods of American history. The center is
also working in conjunction with Louisiana State University to
produce a digital archive accessible to researchers on-line.

Louisiana State Museum:
The museum offers numerous exhibits and displays at its main location
on Jackson square in New Orleans' French quarter. In addition,
however, the museum also possesses significant archival holdings on the
third floor of the old New Orleans mint building, 400 Esplanade Avenue,
New Orleans,La.. The holdings are accessible to researchers by appointment only by
dialing 504-568-8214 or 1-800-568-6968. The museum has graciously compiled
a descriptive inventory of manuscripts relating to slavery and the slave
trade in Louisiana, available below.
