Getting from the airport to the hotel:

There is an airport shuttle that travels to each hotel in downtown New Orleans. The cost is $10 and the shuttle can be found near baggage claim on the ground floor of Armstrong airport. Please note that there is no shuttle specific to the Ambassador hotel.

Taxis and cabs are also readily available, and will run approximately $25 to $30, including tip.

The Ambassador Hotel is located on 535 Tchoupitoulas Street (pronounced chop-uh-TOO-lus) in the Warehouse District. Both shuttle and cab drivers should know where the hotel is located.

Getting to the hotel via car:

If you are entering New Orleans on I-10, stay on I-10 at the 610/I-10 split. This will divert you south, heading toward Downtown and the Business District. Take exit 234 to U.S. 90, and then to Westbank 90. Take the Carondelet & St. Charles exit and take the first left after the exit, which will be Carondelet St. Take Carondelet east to Poydras St. and take a right. Take Poydras south to Tchoupitoulas and take a right, heading west, and the Ambassador Hotel will be on the right hand side of the first block. Valet service is provided. The Ambassador's address is 535 Tchoupitoulas St.

Getting from the Ambassador to Tulane:

Transportation, between the Ambassador and Tulane, will be provided by the workshop and Hotard Coaches. The bus will leave at 7:25 am on Thursday, November 1 and at 7:40 am the following days of the workshop. To bring participants back to the Ambassador, the bus will leave at 6:30 pm (after a reception that evening) on Thursday, November 1, and will plan to leave at 5:00 pm the following days. In case one runs into a problem, or wishes to visit Tulane before the workshop, directions to get to Tulane are below.

By car: Head westbound on Tchoupitoulas until the intersection with Calliope St., then take a right. Calliope runs underneath and parallel to the elevated interstate. Take Calliope north to St. Charles Ave. and take a left. Head westbound on St. Charles for approximately 3 to 4 miles and Tulane University will be on the right, immediately after Loyola University and across from Audubon Park. As is true with most urban campuses, parking is at a premium at Tulane and in the surrounding neighborhoods. Contact me if you would like information about the parking shuttle from off campus.

By streetcar: Head eastbound on Tchoupitoulas and take a left on Poydras St. and walk north for three full city blocks. Turn left on St. Charles, heading west, and look for a Streetcar stop. Streetcars run approximately every 15 to 20 minutes in the morning. The fee is $1.25.

Meals:

Please note that a continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for participants at the workshop. A light hor d'oervre reception will be held on Thursday, November 1, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, and a group dinner will be held at the Palace Café on Saturday, November 3.
