Children's Organizations in Ireland

There are different groups and organizations with the intent of protecting and insuring the rights of children in Ireland. These groups have many opinions on how children should be treated and thought of based on the ideas from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. These groups work on local levels, national levels and personal levels.

One group that protects the rights of the child is Ombudsman. Ombudsman is a large group that tries to protect and insure the rights and opinions of children in many different countries. Many of their ideas are based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Ombudsman takes a special interest on children under the age of eighteen and has three main goals:

· Promote the rights of children- one of the most important rights that they protect is Article 12 which states that children have a right to know about and have an opinion about things that affect them

· Conduct investigations and researching complaints- if children have complaints about how they are treated, the Ombudsman takes an interest in solving problems and investigating the source of the problems

· Explore inquiries and research- the objective of this group is to insure the rights of children in Ireland and doing so by answering questions posted and conducting research to further explain rights and ideas to children

Another group is the National Children's Organization that also is interested in protecting the rights of the child. The main purpose for them is to make sure that government policies, which affect the rights of the child, are created and carried out on a local level. The idea is to have children protected on a local level so that they can be protected on a national level as well.

The
Children's Rights Alliance is a group that is meant to inform children of their rights. This group presents children’s rights in a way for children to understand so that children can make sure that their own rights are protected rather than waiting and expecting for other organizations to protect them, as well as trying to put a stop to child poverty. The Children's Rights Alliance is a more personal organization for children to insure that their rights are protected.

The treatment and well being of children in Ireland is well supervised. There are many groups and organizations that make it a personal mission to watch over children in Ireland. Over all these groups are trying to improve and insure a better life for children.
