Government Policies and Departments

Children in Ireland are well taken care of by their government. In recent history there have been new policies and goals set by the Irish Republic, based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. These rights explicitly state that from the moment of birth each child is recognized as a citizen of their country. As a citizen, children are entitled to the same rights of any other citizen of their country. There a now government departments that take specific interest in preserving these rights.

Government policies concerning children are mostly made and regulated by these four divisions of the Irish Government.

Department of Health and Children

The Department of Health and Children’s main goal is to provide aid to the Minister in developing policies to ensure that the health of the nation thrives. This department sees a great need for public health and partakes in the well being of small children.
