The division of East and West Germany after World War II and the re-unification in 1990 has had social, political, and economic changes related to work-family policy. Our group explores childcare, fertility rate, and maternal employment through policies, history, and public attitudes. This website focuses on these issues in former East and West Germany as well as the changes that have occurred post unification. While changes have created political and economic unification, differences concerning gender, work, and family still remain.
