Law 1082/80
- Prohibits firing a pregnant women.
Law 1302/83 also known as the Protection of Motherhood
- It establishes a minimum maternity leave of 12 weeks and a pay allowance.
- Gives the woman a right to stop work for breast feeding.
- Allows for job protection during maternity leave.
Law 1483/84 Greek Parental Leave Act
- States each parent, both mother and father, are allowed 3 months leave from work. This can either be taken before the birth of the child or after the birth.
- A single mother is allowed up to 6 months of maternity leave from work.
- Also, allows for up to 6 days throughout the year to leave work in order to care for a sick family member.
- Gives parents 4 days a year to attend school related activities for a child.
Law 1539/85
- This law increased the maternity leave in the private sector from 12 to 14 weeks, and increased the public sector leave to 16 weeks.
Law 1563/85
- Gives tax deduction for working mothers till the child reaches age 6.
1993 Joint Convention of Workers
- Provides the equal treatment of men and women, which includes equal pay, parental leave of up to three and a half months for each parent, total maternal leave of 16 weeks and breast feeding for child care leave.
- As well as regulations relating to the nighttime work of pregnant women.
Law 1483/84
- Provides parental leave for the upbringing of the child for 6 months for 2 parent families.
- Single mothers receive a parental leave until the child completes two and a half years.
