Student Advocacy for Equitable Recovery (SAFER) is a student-led recovery initiative in New Orleans. SAFER provides a low-key yet compelling opportunity for college students locally and globally to volunteer and engage in the recovery of the New Orleans community and work directly with families to help them return home.

In partnership with the Phoenix of New Orleans SAFER is committed to matching the time and skills of college students to the needs of families who lost their homes due to Hurricane Katrina. This match is accomplished through establishing meaningful relationships between the students and families so that they may work together to rebuild the family home and help the family re-establish a normal life.
