ISED

ISED was established with the express purpose of creating a public health training organization that could effectively address the health problems of Senegal and the sub-region. ISED was created on 16 February 1987 by Presidential decree no. 87-178. The institute is attached to the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar. The mission of ISED is to provide training and conduct research in health and development in the Africa region. More specifically, ISED's objectives are to

ISED is a Senegalese institution which provides training, research, and advice in health and development primarily to the Ministry of Public Health & Social Action (MPHSA) as well as to other Senegalese administrative agencies, various donor agencies, and other non-governmental organizations.

The operations research component of the SFPS Project (SFPS/OR) selected ISED as a partner institution with the goal of establishing the Institute as a center of excellence for operations research in the West and Central African region. Collaboration in the past year has focused on integrating OR training into ISED’s training programs. In the future, SFPS/OR will work to further develop ISED as a regional training center for operations research and increasing their capabilities to develop and execute operations research projects.
