IEC Goal and Objectives:
Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programs (JHU/CCP) and its partners recognize the need to implement a mix of IEC strategies that cut across national borders, cultures and ethnicities while exploring new approaches to encourage positive health behaviors. They promote a creative, integrated approach focusing on the urban and peri-urban areas of West and Central Africa, with an emphasis on the countries of Burkina Faso, Côte dIvoire, Cameroon and Togo in order to:
1) Stimulate demand for family planning services,
2) Improve acceptance and continuity of contraceptive use,
3) Decrease the spread of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted
diseases,
4) Increase adoption of positive MCH practices, such as use of
ORS for the treatment of diarrheal disease,
5) Enhance counseling and quality of care in service delivery
centers,
6) Promote institutional sustainability and build regional
resources.
