Welcome Alumni!  First, we would like to let you all know that the Louisiana Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon is as strong as ever.  Manpower is among the highest at Tulane University with 93.  SigEp is the most dominant fraternity at Tulane.

Our Chapter could not have become the force that it is today without the help of members like you.  As active brothers, we encourage you not to lose touch with the Louisiana Alpha Chapter.  Please, take the time out of your schedule to come back and stop by the Chapter House on Zimple St.  Get to know us.  You will have a great time and will have an up close look at exactly how far we have come over the years.  Remember, there is no Louisiana Alpha Chapter without you.

If you are interested in making donations, we have compiled a couple methods for you to do so.  We have organized a scholarship for Sigma Phi Epsilon Brothers to help pay for dues and possibly supplement the costly tuition at Tulane University. We have also created other channels for funds, such as improvements to the Zimple House.  Donations can also be open ended, to provide improvements to the chapter that the Alumni prefer.

Our goal is to get Alumni more involved in this fine Chapter. Whatever we can do to help, please let us know. Our current VP of Communication, Eric Lavin, can be reached at elavin@tulane.edu.

We are constructing a brother database to help brothers and alumni keep in touch after leaving Tulane. The site is www.louisianaalpha.org. If you are not registered within the database, please email the webmaster at sigep@tulane.edu to be added.

Giving to Louisiana Alpha

We'd like to thank you for showing your interest in giving to the Louisiana Alpha Chapter. There are many ways alumni and outside donors can help the chapter:  by helping make repairs to the house, by getting other alumni interested in helping, and of course funding the chapter monetarily. For those interested in donating money towards specific aspects of the Louisiana Alpha budget, please contact the V.P. of Finance, Luke Kay, at lkay@tulane.edu. However, the Louisiana Alpha Benefit Corporation is already in place. Please read further to find out more!

Purpose and Goals of the Louisiana Alpha Benefit Corporation

The purpose of the foundation will be to facilitate the needs of the Louisiana Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon as it continues to grow and expand. The foundation is structured as a non-profit corporation, and is run by a board of directors consisting of two Louisiana Alpha alumni and the Vice President of Communications for the undergraduate chapter.

The activities of the benefit corporation will include academic scholarships, grants for fraternity operations and capital for procuring real estate. The benefit corporation with the help of the undergraduate chapter will seek donations from alumni and undergraduate members in order to grow its assets. The foundation will invest the assets of the foundation in "investment" grade securities, such as government bonds, municipal bonds, low to intermediate risk securities and mutual funds.

Each September, undergraduate members may apply for a scholarship on the basis of academic and need based factors. The board of directors will decide the recipient of the scholarship in October. The scholarship is $1,000 per year and is awarded in two installments of $500 per academic semester. Scholarship funds will be disbursed in October and January of each year.

Anyone interested in donating to the Louisiana Alpha Benefit Corporation may contact Ehren Stanhope at estanhop@tulane.edu or at 504-491-3992.
