Potential Rushees,
Welcome to the Tulane SigEp website. I would like to tell you a bit about our fraternity and what it has to offer you. SigEp is the largest and most dominant fraternity at Tulane. Every year we rank in the top three in academic and athletic performance as well as lead the way in manpower and recruitment. We hold ourselves to the highest and most elite standards, and we look for potential new members who do the same. We are going to have a spring pledge class this coming semester and we are on the lookout for guys who demonstrate balance in their lives. Once recruitment dates are finalized we will release our rush schedule, so if you want to be a part of greatness be sure to keep an eye out for your chance to come around and meet the brothers. Below you will find some information about the spring rush system that is used at Tulane. If you would like to receive more information about joining our ranks, please email us at sigep@tulane.edu.
Respectfully,
Brett Eaglstein, V.P. of Recruitment
Spring Rush
At Tulane University, official rush week activities take place early on during the spring semester. Typically, the majority of rushees are freshmen, although students of all ages are encouraged to rush fraternities if they please. There is an official rush orientation day wherein students that are interested in rush pay $20 and thus are allowed to attend all events fraternities host during the week.
By the end of the week, all bids are given out. Bids are a sign of interest from a fraternity, showing that the members of that fraternity desire the candidate to join their ranks. The candidate can accept the bid to join the fraternity or rush program, defer, putting off acceptance or decline, or decline the bid.
At Tulane University, spring semester was chosen instead of fall semester because of the high majority of candidates being freshman. It is hoped that during the fall semester, a student will be able to get "on his feet" as a student. Students are encouraged to find out all that Tulane has to offer, not just in the options provided by Greek life. Of course, all fraternities host functions during the fall semester in the attempts to meet potential candidates for Greek life. SigEp encourages all students to visit all fraternities in the hopes that each individual finds the right fit.
If you are interested rushing and more specifically joining the Louisiana Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon, please email us at sigep@tulane.edu for more information via e-mail.
