Travel to one or more of the LISTSERV(mailing list) web indices below and end your frequent searches for information about a particular topic. Subscribe to one or more of these listservs, and let discussions about your favorite topics come to YOU via your e-mail account.

Also browse through several of our recommended listservs.

Tips:

Obtaining up to date information about what topics a particular mailing list discusses is quite simple. This is done by sending a message to the administrative address of the list in question. The message should include the following in its body:
info nameoflist
All of the mailing list links below are addressed to their respective administrative addresses. Thus, all you must do to receive information about a particular list is to substitute the word info in place of the term subscribe, which you would normally use when attempting to register yourself to recieve mail from a listserv.
Keep in mind that many mailing listserv owners keep an archive of previous postings to their list. These archives can serve as valuable research tools when attempting to find detailed information about a subject of narrow focus. So how do you perform these archive searches? Search methods usually vary from one listserv to another, but are usually described by the owner of the listserv in an email message, upon subscription to his/her discussion list. However, you can often request a list of available commands from the list owner by sending a message to the administrative address(the addresses linked on this page) with the message:
help nameoflistserv
So what's all this hoopla about Administrative addresses? What other kind of listserv addresses are there? The other type of listserv address is the list address, which is used to post a message to all recipients of the list. Confusing these two types of addresses can lead to thousands of people reading your futile attempt to subscribe to a listserv. Obviously, this is not the best first impression you can make before joining a listserv! :)
