Magic Notes 4/8/98: Divination

Why Bradley was late to class...

Some evangelical/proselytizing fanatic stopped Bradley to try and "save" him. He was slightly annoyed that this woman (about 5' 4", brown hair, average in all ways-- that is, except intelligence) was breaking campus laws by trying to convert people on campus. She explained that she was following G-d's law by trying to "save" people. She didn't seem to grasp the concept that Bradley (that good looking guy in class with all the right answers) doesn't believe in Hell and thus cannot be "saved" per se.

Anyway, after a long conversation where a lot of Bible quoting and unusual interpreting (mostly on her part) took place, Bradley realized that studying Magic was far more important and left. One positive result was her desire to pray for Bradley. He needs as much prayer as he can get-- there are a lot of things in life Bradley is in need of.

Please accept this as an appeal to pray for Bradley. After all, Momma needs a new pair of shoes.

What is Divination

One major issue with divination is the idea of predestination...

If there is predestination, then what's the point of divination (except possibly curiosity)?

If there is no belief in predestination, then it could be used to change the present or future.

Fates vs. gods

Some examples: Zeus does not save his son, Sapedon, in the Iliad (could he have if he wanted to?).

One possible explanation is the concept of alternate realities or time-lines
