Fall 2007:
Weekly screenings of the second season of HBO’s Rome.

October 2007:
Peruvian Mummy Lecture by Dr. John Verano; a co-sponsored event with the Tulane Anthropology Student Union.

February 2008:
Screening of Clash of the Titans, with an introduction by Lisa George.

April 2008:
Lecture, enitled "Re-imagining and Re-imaging the Ancient City: The Apartment Insulae of Roman Ostia," by Dr. Joanne Spurza from Hunter College, City College New York (CUNY). The lecture was followed by the third annual birthday party for Rome.


2006-7 events

Fall 2006:
Weekly screenings of the second half of the first season of HBO’s Rome.

November 2007:
A Night at Troy: Dr. Ken Harl gave an introduction to the 2004 film Troy starring Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, and Peter O’Toole.

Spring 2007:
Weekly screening of I, Claudius. In April, we had the second annual birthday party for Rome.

2005-6 events

Spring 2006:
Weekly screenings of the first season of HBO’s Rome. We started our annual tradition of having birthday cake in honor of Rome’s birthday on 21 April.

(Note: during Fall 2005, Tulane University was closed due to Hurricane Katrina.)

2004-5 events

November 2004:
A Night with Alexander: Before the release of the film Alexander (2004) of Oliver Stone, we had a lively discussion with three Tulane professors, discussing various aspects of the historical figure Alexander: Dr. Ken Harl (the life of Alexander); Dr. Fred Naiden (Alexander’s influence into the Hellenistic period); Dr. Susann Lusnia (Alexander’s iconography and artistic influence across his empire)

Spring 2005:
A Night at the Theatre: A discussion of Roman theatre with Dr. Joe Poe and theatre complexes by Dr. Susann Lusnia. The discussion was then followed by a screening of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, the 1966 film adaptation of the Broadway musical starring Zero Mostel.
