CALL FOR PERFORMANCE

We are still calling for programs, shows, or any kind of performance. You don't have to be a perfect performer, as long as you are confident with your show and willing to share it with people, then just show it! I believe everybody will appreciate it, enjoy it and remember you.

Also, we recently got a KaraOK machine, which has a few thousands of songs, therefore, if you want to sing some songs on the party, please let us know the names of your songs first, so that we could look them up to make sure they are on the list, unless you can sing any of them.

Again, any performer will get a Fortune Envelope !!!

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

To make this party better, we need a few volunteers to help us out. If you are willing to help, please contact us asap. Thanks.

Now we have a BBS for us to water with!

Due to the technical limit by Tulane web services, we use a free Chinese forum. So there must be some inconvenience or even bugs here or there. Please be patient when the system is not stable. Just keeping in mind that we didn't pay anything for using it.

Now the bbs is test running. Unfortunately I found that it doesn't work well with firefox 1.X. It seems we have to use IE as the web browser. I have tested both simplified and traditional Chinese input, all working fine.

Enjoy!

How to get to the fly?

To get to the fly, just drive into the Zoo's parking lot and heard toward the back right corner. You'll notice a small road that takes you over some train tracks. Once you cross the tracks you'll notice kites flying, people sunbathing and everyone having a great time.

Sept. 27 2006
  Hi, all

As we all know, our traditional festivel --- Mid Autumn is coming on the
Friday of next week (Oct. 6). It's the time for us to get together and keep
" LONELY " and " HOMESICK" away!! Plus, our country will have her birthday
soon, there's no doubt that we should celebrate it.

So, here is the plan.

On October 6, we are going to have a BBQ party at the FLY -- beautiful bank of the Mississippi river. There will be food(of course), MOON CAKE, games, music, etc.. And we will enjoy the Full Moon together , which will be so much fun !!

Details:

1, time
October 6, Friday, start from 4:00 pm to whenever. (If you have class in
that evening, it doesn't matter, just come after your class is finished. )

2, address (where the hell is that place?)
FLY is the name of a park on the mississippi river's bank. It locates right
behind(or next to) the Audubon Zoo. It's like 5 minutes' drive from School.
We will post a detailed map with a clear route on TCSSA's website shortly.
It's a beautiful and quiet place with water, grass, trees, birds, fish and
terrific sunset. You will definitely like it.

3, Sign up
Everybody who wants to come to the party, please send email to Zhiye Li as soon as possible with your name, phone number, and transportation status (please emphasize if you need ride or not, and if you have a car, would you like to offer ride to others?), please BE SURE to mention this, because we will arrange ride sharing base on this information. We don't recommend using bike, since we will come back in dark.

4, BBQ grouping
With the registration information, we will split people into 4~6 groups
RANDOMLY. Each group will be offered BBQ materials, including meat(beaf, pork, chicken), fish, shrimp, potato, etc., and tools like BBQ grill,
carbon, one time plates and so for. Each group will have a leader and he or
she will be responsible for his/her team.

5, Entertainments
There will be several games going on among the teams, and the awards are surpurising...

6, Other news
Two officers from Chinese Embassy-Houston will come and join this party, and have fun with us. It might be a good chance for you to ask, if you have some confusion about immigration or visa status.

7, Registration Fee
FREE (That's for sure)

please keep an eye on the update information about this event, which will be post on www.tulane.edu/~tcssa .

We do wish everybody that receive this email can come, and you are always welcome to bring your friends.

Thank you very much and have a good LONG weekend.

TCSSA will have a welcome party on Sep. 1st. Every Chinese student and scholar is invited to this party. As usual, we will serve you great food and drinks, all free!!!! But don't leave immediately after you finish eating. It's a good chance for everyone to make new friends. Especially for those new students who need ride to the Supermarket every week, it's a oppotunity for you to hook up with some old students. There are more than 200 Chinese students and scholars in Tulane, such a big community!!! I sincerely hope
everyone can come to this party and have fun!!!!

Party time: Sep 1, 2006 (Friday)
4:30pm~whenever

Location: Engineering Quad (in front of the Engineering building, Lindy Boggs)

PS: We need volunteers to carry the tables, food and drink cases. Email Zhiye Li if you would like to help.

Aug. 8 2006
     Dear friends:

Welcome to the new website of Tulane Chinese Students & Scholars' Association(TCSSA). Here, in New Orleans, in Tulane University, we are a big family and we won't let you feel alone.

To new students who just arrived or just started class, it's our great pleasure to have you as the new family members of TCSSA. In the very beginning of your study in America, maybe you will feel a little frustrated in facing an entire new life. But time changes people and you will soon catch up and become very confident to do everything.

For the old friends who met Hurricane Katrina, although the disaster drove us crazy, took our stuff and made us move around, it also made us love our school and our life much more than before. After Katrina, some friends transferred out, but there are a bunch of new faces showing up around the campus, which is a great thing!

We are studying hard, meanwhile we are enjoying the life. Tulane is a super good school to study at, and New Orleans is such a fun city for chilling.

The committee of TCSSA will be trying the best to make everybody's life better and more joyful. We will have some activities during this academic year, like picnics, sports games, parties and so for. If you have any advice or suggestion for TCSSA,or even wired thoughts, please tell us.

Remember the name of our family, TCSSA.

Have a wonderful semester!

Zhiye Li
