• OCLC imports (No editing needed)
• Import and save to the database ("boat").
• Add 948 statistics field for new-to-Voyager authority record:
• 948 |a YYYYMMDD |b <initials> |c new

• OCLC import and edit (e.g., adding class no.)
• Import.
• Edit the record:
• 008 field:  If cross-reference will be added, change "Reference Evaluation" code to “[blank].”  Make no other changes.
• 040 field:  Add "|d LRU" at end

Note: from here on, add "|5 HT" to any field added or altered

• 053:  Add literary class no.:
• If no. was found in DLC record in LC cat. online:

053 _4 PR1234.5.A67 |5 DLC |5 HT

• If no. was NOT found in DLC record in LC cat. online:

053 _4 PR1234.5.A67 |5 HT

• 400:  Add any needed cross-references, using correct form and indicators & adding "|5 HT" at end.
• 670:  LC cat. online <date of your search> [e.g., May 10, 2000] $5 HT - Add when you’ve checked LC cat. online and found class no.
• 675:  675 LC cat. online <date of your search> [e.g., May 10, 2000] $5 HT - Add when you’ve checked LC cat. online but not found class no.
• Add 948 statistics field for new-to-Voyager authority record:
• 948 |a YYYYMMDD |b <initials> |c new

• Overlaying Voyager authority records (no editing needed)

Especially useful when record in LC/NACO file includes an 053 field that the authority record in Voyager lacks.

• Make sure that the 040 field does not include |d LRU.  If it does include 040 |d LRU, consult with your trainer or the Database Management/Authority Control Librarian.
• If 040 |d LRU is not present, follow the instructions for overlaying authority records given in Importing and Overlaying Records from OCLC into Voyager, section 2, "Replacing records."
• Add 948 statistics field for revised authority record:
• 948 |a YYYYMMDD |b <initials> |c rev

• Original record creation in Voyager
• Create the basic Voyager authority record using the authority record creation macro.
• Edit the record:
  Note:  you don’t need to add "|5 HT" to fields other than the 053, because everything in record is ours, but if you’re using a macro which contains that element, you may leave it in.
• 008 field:
• "Cataloging Rules":  Change to "z"
• "Level of Establishment":  Change to "c"
• "Reference Evaluation":  If a cross-reference was created by the macro or will be added, change code to "[blank]."
• 040 field:  Macro should supply:  LRU |c LRU
• 053 (LC Classification Number) -- Add as follows:
• If no. was found in DLC record in LC cat. online:

053 _4 PR1234.5.A67 |5 DLC [Note the added |5 for DLC]

• If no. was not found in DLC record in LC cat. online:

053 _4 PR1234.5.A67 |5 HT

• 100:  [Note that the form must match that in the bib record; if you decide to change it, you must change it in both places; watch also for other records with headings using any form.]
• 400:  Add any needed cross-references, using correct form and indicators
• 670:
• A 670 field should have been created from the piece being cataloged; edit it if necessary.
• 670 LC cat. online <date of your search> [e.g., May 10, 2000] -- Add when you’ve checked LC cat. online and found class no.
• 675:  675 LC cat. online <date of your search> [e.g., May 10, 2000] -- Add when you’ve checked LC cat. online but not found class no.
• Add 948 statistics field for new-to-Voyager authority record:
• 948 |a YYYYMMDD |b <initials> |c new
