The alarming deterioration of Louisiana's coastal wetlands has been an important motivation for our research during the past seven years. The meaning of our work has taken on an entirely different connotation in the post-Katrina era. Our investigations use the late Quaternary geologic record to better understand the evolution of fluvial, deltaic, coastal, and offshore marine environments as a function of external forcings, primarily sea-level and climate change. Sea-level rise is an issue of particular interest, and we take advantage of the unique sedimentary record along the US Gulf Coast to reconstruct changes in sea level in the recent geologic past, with the ultimate goal to enable better predictions for the future. These pages provide more detailed information on who we are and what we do.
