Tulane University School of Social Work

Centers and Institutes

In the early years of the Tulane School of Social Work's existence, faculty established the precedent both for continuing involvement in shaping and delivering services, and for making use of the community for learning and action research. One trend stands out that would recur throughout the history of the School: its curriculum and scholarship reflected the best contemporary thinking about local issues and about broader social issues, as well.

Today, under the auspices of the Division of Extended and Lifelong Learning, the School continues that tradition. Included in the Division are: the Center for Lifelong Learning (formerly Continuing Professional Education); the Gary Lloyd HIV/AIDS Institute; the Porter-Cason Institute for the Advancement of Practice with Families; the Tulane Center on Aging Research, Education, and Services; and the Elizabeth Wisner Social Welfare Research Center for Families and Children.
