After you make the decision to take an online course at SCS, you can maximize your chances for a rewarding academic experience by following the tips listed below:
Check your Tulane e-mail account regularly for updates from your online instructor.
At the start of each online class, familiarize yourself with the components of the myTulane site for the course as well as the syllabus for the course. Also, if you do not receive an e-message from your instructor by the first day of classes, contact the program director for that course.
Login to your myTulane course site frequently. In addition, make sure you understand the participation component for each online course you take.
Use an online or paper calendar to keep track of all of your assignment due dates.
Be attentive to the directions and announcements posted by your professor and ask questions whenever you are uncertain about what is required.
Feel free to contact the instructor for any course you are considering taking – to gain further information and/or to see a copy of the course syllabus. Also, if you have any other questions about online courses in general, please see your advisor.
Be sure you have Internet access and a reliable computer that meets the minimum specifications for using the myTulane learning management system. Note: If you have any doubts about your computer, you can check the minimum specifications in the Tulane HelpU 24-7 knowledge base (and search for “minimum computer”). Also, please keep in mind that you have access to the student computer lab at your nearby SCS campus.
