Long and her husband published a local newspaper entitled, The Vieux Carre Courier. They were also active in the campaign against an elevated expressway along the French Quarter. The papers largely relate to research conducted for the View Carre Commission during the early 1960s, which later became the basis for Long's continuing series Along the Banquette, articles written about the history of various Quarter buildings. Included is material concerning the Historic New Orleans Collection; A Friends of the Cabildo New England tour; collected ephemera from local plantation houses; and annotated texts for Courrier articles about St. Joseph's Day, Christmas, and Mardi Gras.
