Louisiana was one of these "unratified states," and yet, the work on behalf of the amendment was monumental and far reaching. More and more women engaged in political work because of their involvement in the push for the ERA. Those women such as Hazel Freeman (exhibit item 9), Dorothy Mae Taylor (exhibit items 12 and 58), Felicia Kahn (exhibit item 43), Sandra Robinson and Noelle LeBlanc (exhibit item 46) as well as women such as Bland Bruns, made such a change. Felicia Kahn was one of the first women to volunteer for jury duty in the early 1950s. During the 1970s, another push was made to have women sign up in such large numbers that officials would then come to the conclusion that women, like men, should be automatically called (exhibit item 7) Not until the late 1970s were women voters automatically entered into the list of citizens called to jury duty.
