Newcomb's Pottery building and its barn-like room allowed the students easy access to drying racks, kilns, clay, and finished products. The New Orleans Pottery Club, featured above, had first initiated Saturday Art classes for women in New Orleans in the 1880s and early 1890s. Many of these women continued at Newcomb College, enrolled as special students.
