Women Making Movies
The Center is pleased to announce its new affiliation with the New Orleans chapter of Women in Film.
Women in Film (WIF) is the foremost non-profit, professional organization for women in the global communications industry. The first chapter was founded in Los Angeles in 1973 by Tichi Wilkerson Kassel. Now there are over 30 autonomous chapters operating worldwide. WIF's goal is to improve the employment opportunities, range of depictions, and recognition of women in the film and television industry, not only in the United States, but throughout the world. WIF provides its members and local communities with a wide variety of programs designed to foster professional growth and greater public awareness of the accomplishments of talented women in the entertainment industry.

As film and television production emerges as a significant sector of the Louisiana economy, opportunities abound for talented, educated, motivated women just looking for that foot in the door. We will collaborate with WIF-NO to a provide a library of practical reference resources about various aspects of the film industry, networking opportunities, seminars about women and the entertainment industry, and other programs for local women working in or interested in working in film. We thank WIF-NO Program Chair Zon Pickens-Dumas of TeleZon Entertainment Worldwide for her initiative in developing this working relationship with us.

If you would like to become involved in WIF-NO, please phone (504) 891-0546. Student memberships are available.
