who is Sophie?;
Harriett
Sophie Newcomb was the daughter of Josephine Louise Newcomb. Sophie was
only 15 when she died of diptheria in 1870, and her mother founded
and endowed H. Sophie Newcomb College as a memorial to her.
- Late one night at the Newcomb College Center for Research on Women, a
lonely student worker dozed off next to a scanner and computer while working
on a history of Newcomb College. When she awoke, there was an image on
the computer, an image that she knew she hadn't worked on.

"Behold! I am Sophie! I will control the Net!"

You can imagine the poor little student worker's surprise. Minimum wage
wasn't supposed to include supervision of independent-minded cyberspace
entities. But Sophie had a plan, and the student worker couldn't help but
join in.
