Baptism, 1975 It's an older photo, dated June 8, 1975, and a little faded, but I
think it conveys what I wanted to show. It's about a time of innocense
for me and how thoroughly unaware I was of what was happening ro me that
day. My sister and brother and I were brought during an altar call and
presented for baptism. My understanding of what it all meant was limited
by a fewSunday school classes and a lot of daydreaming during Sunday services.
Yet I knew something powerful was happening. My family readied a big celebration
for that day. We dressed in white from head to toe and were shown much
love from the congregation. We marched out to the pool in reverence to
God and I remember the solemnity as the congregation sang, "Wade in the
Water." It was all very stirring for me a little frightening. My grandmother
screamed "Go down!" as the preacher layed [sic] his hands on each one
of us and sang out, "In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!"
Then he put us down into the water. This picture is me coming up new.
Years later, I learned the truth about the love of God and His precious
Son Jesus Christ and was baptized again as an adult. This time, there
was no fear. |

Stallworth Nossiter First feeding, 2002 Sharon Stallwoth Nossiter and Henry Nossiter ...in the early morning hours of February 19, 2002, at that hospital over there on Napoleon. I was 41 years old. Henry is our second child. We were just beginning to get the hang of nursing. I had just eaten a ham sandwich that Adam brought me because I hadn't had anything to eat for 24 hours or so. Carolyn "Pani" Kolb First Day of School, 1948 Although we were Methodists, my mother (Ethel McQueen Goldsby) and my father (Joseph Hugh Goldsby, Jr.) sent me to the Catholic school, Annunciation School. It was run by the School Sisters of Notre Dame, and was so small we had two grades in a classroom through 8th grade. Here I am on the first day of school, with my new school bag, wearing my new uniform (navy and white), waiting for my father to finish the picture and drive me to class. September 1948.
