NEW EMPLOYEE INFORMATION

NEW HIRE/REHIRE ORIENTATION

Orientation will become the first day of employment for all new hires and rehires – Administrators, Faculty, Staff and Post Doctoral Fellows.

For new Faculty and those Outside of the Greater New Orleans area (employees who work outside of New Orleans), Orientation will be conducted on-line, and must be completed before they start work at Tulane University.

For new Staff employees working uptown or downtown, Staff Orientation will be conducted at the Uptown and Downtown Campuses on alternate Fridays. Attendance at this Orientation will allow new Staff to begin work the Monday following Orientation and all necessary Employment and Payroll paperwork will be completed.

We will be contacting you directly to set up a meeting to explain how it is going to work.

VACATION LEAVE

Employees do not accrue vacation leave unless and until they have completed six (6) consecutive months of employment with the University. Vacation leave may not be used before it is accrued. If you resign or terminated prior to completing six (6) consecutive months of employment, you have no accrued vacation leave.

Working together in a spirit of continuous improvement, the Workforce Management Organization is committed to delivering programs and services to our employees by providing a thorough Orientation Experience.

PAY FREQUENCY

There are three (3) frequencies of pay:

Monthly – All full-time exempt and non-exempt staff as well as part-time exempt staff/faculty are paid monthly. The paychecks are issued on the last working day of the month.
By-Weekly - Security, Facilities, Plant Operations, Child Care, and Maintenance, as well as part-time non-exempt staff and students, are paid bi-weekly. There are 26 pay periods per year. These employees are paid every other Friday, unless pay day falls on a holiday. In that case pay checks will be issued on the last working day before the holiday.
Semi-Monthly - This is used only for Medical Residents there are 24 pay periods per year. Employee is paid on the 15th and 30th of each month.
