POLICY & PROCEDURE

VOLUNTARY TERMINATION

If you are a nonexempt employee and intend to voluntarily terminate your employment with the University, you are asked to provide written notice to your supervisor at least two (2) weeks prior to your last working day.  If you are an exempt employee, you are requested to provide at least four (4) weeks notice. 

On or after your last working day, you will receive pay for accrued but unused vacation leave in accordance with the vacation policy.  If you are absent from work during the notice period, your vacation leave will be reduced accordingly.  If you use sick leave after you have given notice, you may be required to provide a doctor’s certificate.  You may be asked to complete an exit interview prior to the completion of your last day of work.  You must return all University property assigned to you on or before your last day of work.

At the time of your voluntary termination from the University any money owed by you to the University must be repaid.

PROCEDURES

  • Department must submit a Payroll Action Form (PAF) along with the final time sheet to the Human Resources Section of the Workforce Management Organization.
  • If an employee has any questions regarding the last paycheck, contact the Payroll Section of the Workforce Management Organization.
  • A new Payroll Personnel Information Form (PPI) MUST accompany the termination Payroll Action Form.
