I was born and raised in Baton Rouge even though my mom is French and dad is El Salvadorian. Currently a senior at Tulane University, I study Biomedical Engineering with a minor in French. My thesis research focuses on how dendritic cells affect breast cancer in the lymphatic system. This past summer I had the opportunity to conduct research at Baylor College of Medicine where I worked with engineering a biomaterial that promoted angiogenesis in the mouse cornea. I hope to combine this past summer's research experience along with the valuable skills gained in lab at Tulane in an effort to become a Fulbright fellow after I graduate in Lausanne, Switzerland at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne.

I spend many of my summers in France and consequently speak fluent French. I am captain of the Division I swim team here and aspire to break the school record in the 200 yard butterfly. Also, I take pride in being a woman in science and engineering so I am very active in the Newcomb College Institute as a Newcomb Scholar. A true Louisiana girl at heart, I will always obey the state's ideals: food, fun, and festivals.
