Jackson T. Levine

I am from Portsmouth, Rhode Island and am currently a sophomore studying biomedical engineering and neuroscience with a music minor at Tulane University. My research interests revolve around neural engineering. I am currently working on a team in Dr. Dr. Khismatullin's lab researching the effects of Low Intensity Focused Ultrasound (LIFU) on neuron regeneration. Our goal is to develop a system that integrates ultrasound with neuron axon dynamics for neurogenesis. Additionally, we seek to quantify the impact that LIFU has on increasing the rate of axonal growth. The ultimate goal is to apply the results of this research to develop a medical device that can be used in clinics to assist in the rehabilitation process.

In addition to my research and class, I love playing music and anything to do with sports. I play guitar and I sing and like to think I have a Jason Mraz/ folksy genre. I hope to maybe find a gig in a little coffee shop or a restaurant in New Orleans. As a New Englander, I take a lot of pride in my teams and can be caught yelling at the screen during a Patriots game. I grew up playing baseball and soccer and I play on the club soccer and volleyball teams here.
