Nithya Kasireddy

I am from Hyderabad, India and I am a PhD candidate working in Dr. Khismatullin's laboratory. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. My research interests include computational modeling of biomechanical systems and rheology of living cells and tissues. My research involves development of computational fluid dynamics models to predict the flow of blood and other complex fluids, characterized by non-Newtonian viscoelastic properties in channels of different geometry. These CFD models will be applied to rheological analysis of biological tissues and biomechanical analysis of circulating cell interactions in micro-fluidic channels and blood vessels. My previous research includes modeling of a biconcave red blood cell and simulating it with Lattice Boltzmann Method. I analyzed the drag forces on the biconcave geometry and compared them with other shapes. A similar analysis was done using the boundary element method and the results were compared.

I like arts and handicrafts. I spend my leisure time for painting, jewelry making, crocheting and making different types of handicrafts. I also like to travel and explore different places.
