Course Description, Goals, and Objectives

Prerequisite: Psyc 100 or 101. Lectures cover the function and structure of the nervous system and the role of brain activity in the regulation of behavior. This course provides psychology majors with a first exposure to the biological bases of behavior and is not recommended for students who have taken other courses in this area of study.

Upon successful completion of Brain & Behavior, the student should have an understanding of basic neurobiological concepts, including neural and synaptic transmission, mechanisms of drug and hormone action, functional neuroanatomy, and behavior.

Students in Brain & Behavior are offered the opportunity to sign up for a one-credit course in service learning (Psych 389-06). (Call # 22700)
