I love this picture of my mother, Virginia Louise CROWL (m. 1st STEVENS, m. 2nd WALKER). All her life she kept that expression. She was a little devil according to my aunt -- hardly the look of a 6-yr old making her first communion! She was living in Champagne, Illinois at this time.

My grandmother Elizabeth Lehr McQueen (Mrs. Edward) was a wonderful seamstress and made many of my dresses when I was a child. Here I am curtseying in my flower girl dress for a New Orleans wedding of one of my mother's cousins, the Saunders's, in the Summer of 1947. I remember that as I went down the aisle I forgot to scatter the petals, so I ran all the way to the back of the church and started over again. I'm sure the bride would like to forget that part of the ceremony.
