Biochemistry and biophysics of proteins, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids. Particular emphasis is given to structure-function relationships and methods to determine them.  In the spring of 2002, students will have the option of taking the course for 3 or 4 hours with the 4-hour version requiring two semi-independent projects: a computer graphics presentation (for examples, see below), and structural characterization of a 15-residue synthetic peptide by circular dichroism and NMR [link to assignment].
